Lilliputian Photography- a documentation- 2008

Chris has lost my body.

Now he is wondering about the room asking 'what is more annoying than annoying' as he tries to put into words the sensation of losing my body.

'Everyone's a critic'. Two questions; Is a bus time table literature? What is art?

The Trick So Far

The recently found body is reunited with my head- which had been securely blue tacked onto a screwdriver before the lost body crisis. Both body and head are doing well and are being photographed.

Chris- 'Lilliputian photography is fun'.

'The camera has spoilt things somewhat'.

Chris doesn't think he is a good example of realistic dialogue. He asks if I'm doing some journalism.

I think this isn't a good example of realistic journalism.

Chris 'Why aren't you in focus? Because you hate me'. The camera says nothing.

I take some pictures- don't think it helped. Don't know what 'lead through the picture' means. Should have asked.

My hands look like big mittens in one shot- this is disappointing but I find 'big mittens enjoyable to say- so I repeat it. 'Big mittens'.

Chris- 'Are you sat on a pad? No I'm not. How dare you?'

The pad is found.

Helena Bonham Carter

This Christmas I gave my husband a book of the complete Tim Burton art collection. It's a lovely book and it has presented Helena Bonham Carter in a whole new light. She's ace, really, I want to become friends with her, invite her round for tea and make her cookies.

Before reading this book I never gave her much thought. Being a Tim Burton fan I've obviously seen her quite a bit since they got together. She's in a lot of his films. I know some people think she's only in these films because she's with him. My personal theory is that Tim Burton has Helena Bonham Carter and Johnny Depp locked in his basement and he only lets them out to make movies. The real reason for her repeat appearances is much sweeter. In the Tim Burton art book she describes how when planning the movie he will come to her and say 'it has to be you in this part because I've drawn you.'1 It's nice to think that his love for her permeates all his creative ideas.

He draws her a lot. She mentions receiving cards with drawings of their family on every birthday, christmas, valentine. There are even cards documenting the birth of their children- these are cuter than they sound. She writes all these details in such a simple and honest way that I could not help but be charmed by her.

I think I can relate to being in a relationship with a extremely creative man. Although I wish I could also relate to the doing creative things for oodles of cash part of it! But I understand how amazing it is being around such an entertaining and energtic mind. It makes life fun and interesting and therefore easier to cope with damp walls and blocked toilets.

Star Wars and me

I have to admit I set up this blog with no idea what to do with it. It doesn't seem the most useful thing for someone who plays the drums and is learning to draw cartoons. In other words: I'm not really a writer. Anyway my husband said I should write about Star Wars, so here it is.

I must have watched some of the early films in the 80s and me and my brother had (apart from a very much missed millennium falcon) every Star Wars toy you could get. But I couldn't remember the films, never saw the new ones, not that bothered, give me something directed by Orson Welles any day....until now.

My husband has always like them. He knows all the words, the names of insignificant characters, got so excited about the double light saber I actually got kind of jealous. He made me watch all six films this Christmas and now I love them. Particularly Return of the Jedi, it's got ewoks, princess Leia kills a horrid slug thing, the scabby emperor finally dies, plus when that ewok hugs R2D2 it's the cutest thing ever!

The reason my husband finds this news ground breaking is because he knows me and he thinks I've got better taste. I can see this. I have hideously pretentious looking tastes. I love Dostoyevsky and Baudelaire, my favorite Tim Buckley album puts off even Tim Buckley fans. Now, here's the secret I really don't want people to know: I can take no credit for my taste, it is purely accidental. I like what I like and right now that's Star Wars.
